DRIVEWAY AND SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION MAILBOX PLACEMENT

A. Driveways

§301. PERMIT REQUIRED.

No person, firm or corporation shall cause or permit any driveway or private road to enter onto the right-of-way for, or connect with, any Township road without first obtaining from the Township a driveway permit.

§302. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS.

Every driveway or private road entering onto the right-of-way for, or connecting with, any Township road shall be constructed to the following standards:

A. Any surface water drainage sewer installed in any ditch running along the Township road shall be of a size and type determined and approved by the Township prior to installation. The Township shall be the sole judge of the necessity of installing any such surface water drainage sewer. No such sewer shall have an inside cross-sectional area of less than 110 square inches, although a larger sewer may be required in the sole judgment of the Township.

B. No driveway or private road shall be sloped so as to cause or permit surface water from the driveway or private road to flow onto the traveled portion or berm of the Township Road.

C. Mailboxes

§331. STANDARDS FOR PLACEMENT OF MAILBOXES.

1. No mailbox may extend over the edge of the paved or main traveled portion of any roadway.

2. The vertical support post for any mailbox shall be installed:

A. On the property owner's side of the ditch line, wherever possible.

B. In such a manner that will not impede the Township in maintenance of the roadway or ditches (whether covered or uncovered).

3. Where it is not possible to install the vertical support posts on the property owner's side of the ditch line, the support post may be installed at such other location as may be approved in advance by the Board of Supervisors.

4. The mailbox shall be installed at a height of not less than 36 inches nor more than 42 inches above the surface of the roadway.
